10 Tricks To Boost Your Commìssion

Here is a very interesting and informatiive article about "tweaking" the Adsense Ads on your web sites to get more revenue; if you are already "doing o.k." using the 10 techniques outlined here can help make your income from Adsense Ads on your web sites " even better". The article may seem long in that there are 10 points to the entire article .. but I assure you .. it will be "well Worth your time" .. especially if you take these points and "actually use these tweaks" on your web sites.

As always.. Enjoy !

Top 10 Ädsense Tricks To Boost Your Commìssion

Google Ädsense - is fast becoming the preferred way for people to earn an ìncome online. Forget eBay and multiple affïliate programs. Whether you are a work-at-home mom trying to make a little extra cäsh or an Internet entrepreneur with hundreds of monetized websites, Ädsense is truly the easiest way to earn monëy.

Simply sign up for a frëe account, grab your ad code and paste it in your site. But here's the amazing thing - no matter how much monëy Ädsense is making for you right now, a few simple tweaks can increase that amount considerably. And I should know, after learning about these tricks, I more than doubled my Ädsense commìssions!

The self-proclaimed Ädsense gurus and experts are sharing this insider knowledge, for a fee.

You can learn all these secrets from them, as long as you buy their e-book, sign up for their seminar or purchase their newsletter. But I'm going to share all their Ädsense tricks for frëe. Here they are:

1) Color code your Äds to match your web site palette *exactly*. Don't use frames around your Äds. Instead, in the Ädsense code generation interface, make sure you choose the same color as your page background for the ad frame and the ad background.

When choosing the ad heading colors, match them to the *exact* color of your page headings. Use the exact same ad background shade as your page background. Use the exact same ad text font and color as the text on your pages. You can see an example of this color-matching on my Search Engìne Advice Blog - notice the 4 link ad unit at the top and the skyscraper text ad unit on the left hand side under the heading Äds by Google as you scroll down the page? The link and text colors are identical to the color palette used throughout the rest of the page.

Near enough is NOT good enough. If you can't quite get the color matching right, use Google's built in color palette together with the RGB to HEX or vice versa color converter on this page. That handy little tool was a life saver for me.

This is probably the one single tweak that made the most difference to my commìssion levels.

2) Try not to use the traditional horizontal banner style or leaderboard image Äds because people are blind to them.

3) Use Google's own Ädsense optimization tips and visual heat map to assist you in deciding where on your page to place your Ädsense ad code.

4) Research competitive keywords using a keyword research tool such as Keyword Elite or grab a list of the most popular keywords from various sources and use them in your web site pages where relevant. This article - is a good source of frequently searched keywords. Targeting popular keywords should trigger Ädsense Äds on your pages that utilize those keywords. The more popular the keyword or phrase, the higher AdWords advertisers are generally willing to pay-per-clìck for it so the higher your commìssion on those clìcks.

5) Incorporate the Ädsense code into your page so that the Äds look like a regular part of your site. You can see an example on this Internet Dating Stories site - where link Äds are incorporated within the regular left hand navigation of the site under the heading "Sponsor Links".

6) Use Google's new 4 and 5 link ad units wherever possible. They seem to have a much higher Clìck-Through-Rate (CTR) than regular ad styles. You can view all the Ädsense ad formats at this page on Google.

7) Place arrows or images next to your Äds to draw attention to them. You can see two different versions on this search engìne article library page - at the top (where a pointing hand directs your eye to the ad) and the bottom where 3 images draw your attention to each of the three Ädsense Äds.

8) Use the full allowance of multiple Ädsense Äds on each of your pages - 3 regular Ädsense Äds, plus 1 link unit. Use careful placement of these Äds so they blend into your site and don't distract from your content. Clever use of this allowance can be seen on this page about bad Internet dating stories - where you see:

* 1 horizontal 4 link ad unit towards the top of the page under the first paragraph.

* 1 vertical skyscraper text ad unit about halfway down the left hand side under "Sponsor Links".

* 1 vertical skyscraper image ad unit down the left hand side under "Sponsor Links".

* 1 horizontal text banner unit at the bottom of the page with images above each ad to draw attention to them.

* You can also include 1 Ädsense referral button in addition to the 3 other units.

9) Tailor your page content to a particular niche or focus. Page content that is tailored towards a specific theme is more likely to trigger AdWords that closely match the content and are therefore more likely to interest your visitors and inspire them to clíck.

Don't create pages merely for the sake of placing Ädsense Äds. Visitors (and search engìnes) can see through this ruse in an instänt.

10) Use custom Ad Channels for each of your ad placements, for example, "Top 5 Link Unit Blue Palette" or "Left Side Navigation Image Skyscraper" etc. Tweak, track and measure the success of each of these custom channels so you know what gives you the highest CTR. Some ad formats and colors will work better than others, but you won't know which until you test, test and test some more!

How To Choose Your Website Colors

Here is an interesting article from just last year about choosing the "right" colors of your web site. Imagine - a better way to choose what color to use than just what you think might look nice .. it is not how your site looks as much as how seeing your site gets a visitor to react or act when they see your website. Many visitors will leave right away if the information presented is not easy to read and comprehend.
Jason has some great advice about what emotions can be evoked just by the use of color - for text - for background - even for the graphics in your web site. To attain the results you are after; whether it is more traffic, higher sales , more sign ups .. remember the colors you choose are IMPORTANT !!

As always ... enjoy !

How To Choose Your Website Colors

By Jason OConnor (c) 2005

Color is often overlooked in the business of optimizing websites for better returns on investments. Website sales can be greatly affected by simply changing its colors. Ever come across a website that uses some funky combination of print and background colors? If you ever want to experience an eye-twisting headache, try reading yellow print on a blue background. The reason you see black type on a white background so much is that it is the best color combination for reading, both on and offline.

And since it is even harder to read text on a monitor than it is on paper, we must all be especially careful with the colors we choose for our websites, or suffer less-than-optimal site traffic and repeat visitors.

Color choice should also be dictated by other, less obvious goals, when designing or re-vamping a website. It's important to realize that different colors invoke different emotions, are associated with specific concepts and say different things in each society. For instance, green often times is associated with freshness or money, which is fairly obvious if you think about it. But every color does this, and some of the emotions and concepts are more subtle. For example, white means pure, easy, or goodness and purple can be associated with royalty or sophistication. What's more, each color carries with it both positive and negative ideas. The emotions and concepts that you associate with specific colors may differ from other people's associations, but there are themes that run throughout each color. Here are some:

Red:
Positive: Sense of power, strength, action, passion, sexuality
Negative: Anger, forcefulness, impulsiveness, impatience, intimidation, conquest, violence and revenge

Yellow:
Positive: Caution, brightness, intelligence, joy, organization, Spring time
Negative: Criticism, laziness, or cynicism

Blue:
Positive: Tranquility, love, acceptance, patience, understanding, cooperation, comfort, loyalty and security
Negative: Fear, coldness, passivity and depression

Orange:
Positive: Steadfastness, courage, confidence, friendliness, and cheerfulness, warmth, excitement and energy
Negative: Ignorance, inferiority, sluggishness and superiority

Purple:
Positive: Royalty, sophistication, religion
Negative: Bruised or foreboding

Green:
Positive: Money, health, food, nature, hope, growth, freshness, soothing, sharing, and responsiveness
Negative: Envy, greed, constriction, guilt, jealousy and disorder

Black:
Positive: Dramatic, classy, committed, serious
Negative: Evil, death, ignorance, coldness

White:
Positive: Pure, fresh, easy, cleanliness or goodness
Negative: Blind, winter, cold, distant

A major goal of marketers is to invoke emotion in their audience. We know that if we can cause some kind of an emotional reaction in the people we are marketing to and communicating with, we have a better chance of compelling them to buy from us. The battle between logic and emotion that rages in each of is usually won by emotion most of the time. By choosing the colors of our websites and online media with deliberate care, we are purposefully trying to invoke a specific emotional response that will increase sales. So pick your colors carefully.

Not only do colors evoke emotions, but they can communicate messages or concepts too. For example, look at ClickItTicket.com to see how color is used to communicate the new affiliation between Oak Web Works, LLC and ClickitTicket.com. The blues of Oak Web Works's logo swirl into the reds of ClickitTicket.com's logo. This can be interpreted as a melding of the two organizations, which is what the words underneath say, "in affiliation with". Also, the red of OakWebWorks.com indicates action and passion, two essentials for people who want to attend theater, sporting events or concerts.

Another online ticket website, BestShowTicketsLasVegas.com, has a different color approach. Its main colors are blue and purple, giving the site a comforting, secure and sophisticated feel. The main header on each page has all the colors in the rainbow in it, a collage of images, with the word `Tickets' in large, white font. Much of the site is white too, which gives it a clean feel.

As a general rule of thumb, when Oak Web Works designs websites, one primary color and one secondary or complimentary color will be chosen. These colors are based on the specific audience and market of our client and the messages the client wants to communicate to the rest of the world. If more than two or three colors are used, things tend to look a little messy, and the power of any one color is diluted too much, so we most often stick with two colors.

When I am not sure exactly which colors or combinations to use, I often start trying different things, then take a step back and ask myself what my chosen colors are conveying to me. After designing many websites over the years I have realized that going with my gut has often worked when I'm in doubt. You would be surprised at how creative and accurate your intuition can be.

However, if the client already has an established brand, we will always make sure to match the colors of the website with the original colors of the company. It is not wise to have print collateral material one color and the website a totally unrelated color. All marketing channels need to remain consistent, with one face only.

Since website visitors all have different platforms, different monitors, and different settings for their screen resolutions, the colors you choose for your website may not always be rendered the exact same way on your site visitors' monitors. That's why there are "Web Safe" colors that have a much higher likelihood of looking the exact same regardless of the user's computer, monitor or settings. Many graphics programs, including Adobe Photoshop, have a feature that allows you to choose "Web Safe" colors only.

Keep in mind however, that the sophistication of technology today allows for Web designers to be able to stray from the "Web Safe" colors more and more. So don't be overly concerned if you choose to use "un-safe' Web colors, chances are that most of your audience has the computers necessary to view your site the exact way you intended.

Whether you are designing sites for clients or designing your own business website, your color choice is vital. Be sure to try different colors, different shades, and different combinations before you decide. It's a lot of fun playing with colors but every choice you make comes with a set of pre-defined societal meanings and emotions, so choose with deliberate care.

Increase Traffic to Your Website

Here is a very interesting and helpful article about how to get some traffic to the Adsense website you may have just purchased from one of the many online sellers - people who sell you these websites but fail to tell you exactly how to get other people to come to your new money making machine. Colin Evans is a man who has been making Quality Adsense web sites for a number of months and continues to do so. You can save your self a lot of time and money by purchasing some of Colin's Adsense sites ( he puts a few out every month .. and they are always excellent in presentation as well as content). Colin takes us the next step with the article below and over delivers .. as usual.

As always .. Enjoy!

Increase Traffic to Your Website with These Top Seven Linking Tips!

Are you one of those who got conned by the SEO experts into believing that reciprocal linking was only a search engine optimization tactic and was frowned upon by the search engines and therefore a bad practice?

Perhaps they should have told the whole truth… Indiscriminate reciprocal linking is frowned upon by the search engines, but careful tactical reciprocal linking benefits everybody and not only is it a good way of getting “quick traffic” it’s a good way to get fairly stable traffic - I have websites that still get traffic from links I swapped over two years ago, and this traffic has steadily increased over the years (both ways).

Getting good quality links is far more important than getting lots of links, so here are seven tips for getting decent reciprocal links to your websites:

1) Don’t worry about a website’s PR (i.e. Google PR) because many websites end up with an inflated PR through their own reciprocal linking campaigns. What’s the point of linking to a high PR website which receives very little traffic?

You need to link to a website which gets a lot of traffic, so do a little research using Alexa.com - create a spreadsheet to record the traffic stats of likely link partners - you want to make sure their traffic is either stable or increasing (so you will be maintaining these stats for the life of your link partnership, hence the spreadsheet).

2) Only link to websites of a similar or related theme. I have found that linking to all and sundry might increase the traffic to a website but doesn’t necessarily increase earnings. For example, a visitor who clicks through to your website from a reciprocal link on a similarly themed website is looking for information, which makes them far more inclined to click on a Google Adsense ad if it looks interesting to them.

3) Only link to partners who use categorized link pages or use a categorized link directory (unless they have less than 10 links in total). Your link must be easy to find, which means it needs to appear in a logical, orderly and easy to search system.

4) Never add your link to a page with more than 20 links - less than 10 is even better. If there is more than one page of links for a particular category, don’t bother adding your link - people hardly ever look past page one…

You would be better off finding a related category for your website which has fewer links. For example - you might have a website on diamond rings… When the time comes to add a link to a reciprocal directory nearly everybody will add their link to the diamond jewelry category, but not many people think of engagement rings, or wedding rings or bridal jewelry.

5) Never link to a website which tries to hide the link to their link pages. You’re doing this for traffic so your link must be easy to find. You will get a lot more traffic from a website which has a link to their links/resources near the top of the webpage (or within the normal navigation menu system), and hardly any from a link at the bottom of the page.

6) Your link is an advertisement for your website, so spend a bit of time writing a good one. You need a title which gets attention and a description which arouses interest or gets the reader curious.

7) You are engaging in a reciprocal link, so reciprocate. Make sure that your linking system allows your reciprocal link partners to apply the previous six tips…

If you apply these seven tips to your reciprocal linking while being ruthless in your selection of link partners you can increase the flow of targeted traffic to your websites which in turn will increase your website income.
